Davis Departure

Scotland Health President and CEO, Greg Wood, announced the departure of current Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Cheryl Davis, after more than 10 years with the healthcare system effective January 11th. Dr. Davis announced her plans to devote her time to her family and teaching ministry in July and has since undergone a transition period.

Dr. Cheryl Davis stated, “I love Scotland Health Care System. I consider it my family and will continue to be its biggest fan. It is an honor and privilege to practice medicine, and I will continue to serve our patients as a member of the medical staff. I am most proud of our COVID response over the last 18 months as I think it is the best among all rural healthcare systems in the nation. I pray that God continues to bless Scotland Health Care System going forward.”

Dr. Davis was appointed as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer in 2015. In addition to the senior executive positions held, Dr. Davis was also an active member of the Hospitalist team. She was instrumental in numerous quality initiatives over the past decade and the lead physician on the Covid Response Team. Dr. Davis was a key player in enforcing both safe and covid-safe standards throughout the healthcare system, a liaison for fellow physicians and an advocate for upholding The Scotland Way.  After stepping down, Dr. Davis will remain on the staff as a hospitalist at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

“Dr. Davis is an extremely talented physician and executive and we have benefited greatly from her service to us over the past decade, especially the past two years as we have successfully fought the COVID pandemic. We all wish her much success as she grows her ministry and devotes more time to her wonderful children.” Greg Wood, Chief Executive Officer.

The search for a new Chief Medical Officer is underway and will be announced once finalized.
