Scotland Health Care System, Scotland County Health Department, Scotland Memorial Foundation, and Scotland County Schools are coming together to host TeenFest, a one-of-a-kind event dedicated to the well-being of area teenagers.  The free wellness event will take place on September 16 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Laurel Hill Recreation Center (14940 Church Street, Laurel Hill).  There is no charge to attend and lunch will be available to purchase.

“TeenFest is not your average wellness event,” shared Juanita Swinney-Griffith, Scotland Health’s director of community health.  “It has been packed with exciting activities and entertainment that will keep teens engaged throughout.  And the best part?  The activities are free!”

Attending teens will be invited to dance to the DJ-provided beats while enjoying free snow cones from Ice Breakers. They can challenge each other to a game of corn hole or pickleball and capture memorable moments in a fun-filled photo booth.  There will also be an array door prizes up for grabs giving those in attendance the opportunity to take home some fun gifts.

Organizers hope to use the fun-filled activities as a vehicle to deliver information about the many resources that are available to teens.

“TeenFest isn't just about having a great time,” explained Swinney-Griffith.  “It's also an opportunity for area teenagers to access valuable information about local health, safety, and educational resources. They will be able to discover a wide range of resources that can help them make informed decisions about their well-being while having a blast at the same time.”

Some of the vendors on-hand include CPR demonstrators, tobacco specialist, Scotland County Literacy Council, Scotland Adolescent Wellness, CaptionCall, Eastpointe, Scotland Family Counseling Center, and Safe Kids.

Registration is required and the first 150 teens to register will receive a free lunch.  To register, visit www.scotlandhealth.org/teenfest.
