Char social 2026

Scotland Health is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Sadhana Char, MD, an experienced family physician with more than 20 years of clinical experience, to our primary care team.

Dr. Char brings a strong background in geriatrics, chronic disease management, and value‑based care, along with a longstanding commitment to expanding access for underserved communities. She has served as a lead physician for a 13‑provider practice, supervised numerous Advanced Practice Providers, and volunteered for 14 years at the Matthews Free Health Clinic delivering free, comprehensive care to uninsured patients.

A North Carolina native through her undergraduate work at UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Char earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and completed her Family Medicine residency at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and maintains active licensure in North Carolina.

Dr. Char is also recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for excellence in diabetes care, heart/stroke management, and as a Patient‑Centered Medical Home provider. She has served on the Novant Health Community Health & Wellness Institute Physician Advisory Board and contributed to system‑wide initiatives including White Coats for Black Lives in 2020. Her dedication to community health was additionally highlighted when she was named one of Movement Magazine’s “13 Trailblazing Women of Union County” in 2022.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sadhana Char to Scotland Health,” said Dr. Shelly Lowery, Chief Medical Officer. “Her depth of experience, her compassion for patients, and her longstanding commitment to improving access to high‑quality primary care make her an exceptional addition to our medical staff. Dr. Char’s leadership in value‑based care and her dedication to serving vulnerable populations align perfectly with our mission and the needs of our communities.”

Patients under Dr. Char’s care can expect a collaborative, relationship‑centered approach. “I value the trust that patients place in me and strive to be their advocate,” she shared. “I’m excited to join Scotland Health and continue serving families with compassion and comprehensive care.”

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
