Scotland Health is proud to announce it has been recognized with the State Designated Rural Health Centers (SDRHC) Award of Excellence in Clinical Quality. The award, presented by the North Carolina Office of Rural Health, is for State Fiscal Year 2025–2026.

This prestigious award highlights Scotland Health’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across the rural communities it serves. The honor was presented during the SDRHC End of Year Meeting held on June 3, at the Washington Duke Inn in Durham, NC.

The SDRHC Award of Excellence in Clinical Quality recognizes healthcare organizations that demonstrate outstanding performance in clinical outcomes, patient care, and overall quality improvement initiatives.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of our entire team,” said Jamie Cicali, Executive Director of Population Health/Continuum of Care. “Every day, our providers, nurses, and staff are committed to ensuring our patients receive safe, compassionate, and high-quality care close to home. We are honored to be recognized for that commitment.”

Following the award ceremony, Cicali participated in a panel discussion alongside fellow award recipients, sharing insights and best practices in rural healthcare delivery and quality improvement. Other attendees from Scotland Health community health and population health teams also included, Precious McArn, BJ Goodridge, Anna Bracey, Kim Johnson and Christy McLean.

SDRHC grant funds are administered through the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of Rural Health. The grant supports primary care and behavioral care visits for uninsured and underinsured patients, as well as staff salaries and other operational costs. Scotland Health’s award of SDRHC grant funding recognizes excellence across several categories, including clinical quality, leadership, and program management. Receiving this distinction underscores Scotland Health’s focus on continuous improvement and its mission to enhance the health and well-being of the communities it serves.

Scotland Health remains dedicated to advancing clinical excellence through innovation, collaboration, and a steadfast commitment to patient care—ensuring that individuals across southeastern North Carolina have access to exceptional healthcare, right where they live.
