Scotland Health Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. James D. Miller

Scotland Health is pleased to announce that James D. Miller, D.O., a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction and joint replacement, joined OrthoCarolina Laurinburg on September 8. Dr. Miller's arrival comes ahead of the practice's transition to Scotland Health Orthopedics on October 1, further strengthening access to orthopedic services for patients throughout the region. 

Dr. Miller brings extensive experience in orthopedic surgery, with specialized training in hip and knee replacement, including advanced and robotic-assisted joint replacement techniques. He completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, after finishing his orthopedic surgery residency at UPMC Pinnacle Health Hospital System in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. 

Board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Miller has practiced in Ohio since 2018 and most recently served as an orthopedic surgeon with OhioHealth Physician Group in Columbus. In addition to caring for patients, he serves as faculty for an orthopedic surgery residency program and has presented nationally on joint replacement and robotic-assisted orthopedic surgery.

"As we prepare to transition to Scotland Health Orthopedics, we are excited to expand access to specialized orthopedic care while continuing to provide comprehensive services close to home." 

While Dr. Miller's fellowship training focuses on adult reconstruction and joint replacement, he will also provide a broad range of general orthopedic services. Patients will have access to care for arthritis, joint pain, fractures, sports-related injuries, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
