Inpatient Care

When you have an illness, injury or surgery, the first few days of care can make all the difference in helping you have the most positive outcome from your recovery. When your recovery requires a stay as an inpatient in our medical and surgical nursing units, you can count on safe, high quality and compassionate care from the staff at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Second Floor Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics Unit.
Our Medical Unit has a maximum capacity of 33 beds and is located in the newly remodeled unit on the second floor. Care is provided for patients age 1 day through geriatric. Major diagnoses and surgeries include total knee and hip replacements as well as any other orthopedic non-critical care diagnosis. The staff of registered nurses and support staff are skilled and experienced, offering clinical expertise and collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other health care team members.

Third Floor Telemetry
The Telemetry Unit is a 24-bed unit located on the third floor. Patients range in age from 18 years to geriatric. Major diagnoses include congestive heart failure, stroke, chest pain, cardiac dysrhythmia and any other medical/surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. The staff of registered nurses and support staff are skilled and experienced, offering clinical expertise and collaboration with physicians, pharmacists, and other health care team members.

Critical Care Units
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides highly skilled and qualified nursing care for critically ill patients. These patients require specialized and advanced technical nursing care, which is coordinated by the critical care nurse to include other disciplines as necessary. Our 3rd floor ICU facility is designed for the comfort and security of the patient and their family members with seven large, well-equipped rooms, each with lavatory facilities, and full privacy.

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU), adjacent to the ICU on the 3rd floor, utilizes a total patient care approach to provide care for patients with medical, surgical and cardiac conditions that require more intense nursing care.
