The Center for Inpatient Rehabilitation at Scotland Memorial is a fully licensed seven-bed acute care rehabilitation center. The Center is located on the third floor of the hospital and features a specialized program for hospitalized patients recovering from strokes or other neurological disorders and injuries, trauma, hip fractures and joint replacements.

Our Goal
The Center's goal is to restore the maximum level of function to patients so they can increase their independence following hospitalization. Inpatients must be medically stable in order to withstand three hours of therapy per day. This therapy includes some combination of physical, occupational, speech, and recreational therapy. Most patients require a two-week course of inpatient care.

Our Facilities
The Center has seven private rooms designed with a home-like atmosphere. A special rehabilitation gym is equipped with mats, parallel bars, weights and other items used in a range of therapies. An ADL (Activities of Daily Living) Apartment is available to help patients learn to adapt to a real-life living environment, and to regain their day to day skills such as cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes. The activities/dining area, complete with television, is just for inpatient rehabilitation patients and provides space and time to dine and relax between therapies.

Our Therapies:

  • Occupational Therapy (self-care skills such as bathing, dressing, cooking, cleaning, etc.)
  • Speech Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Recreational Therapy (use of recreation activities such as arts and crafts, games, and music to treat and maintain the well-being of patients)

Our Medical Director:

Muhammad Jawad Iqbal M.D., Nephrology, serves as the medical director of Inpatient Rehabilitation.
